Iowa City Liberty High School’s football program will be led by former National Football League tight end Scott Chandler in 2024. The school district has elevated the eight-year NFL vet from offensive coordinator to replace former head coach James Harris.
During his scholastic days, Chandler played at Southlake Carroll in Texas. He helped the Dragons to a state championship during his senior season with 68 receptions for 1,203 yards and 18 touchdowns. He moved on to play collegiately at the University of Iowa.
Chandler’s professional career began in San Diego with the Chargers after being selected in the fourth round of the 2007 NFL Draft. He finished his career with 205 catches, mostly with the Buffalo Bills, for 2,379 yards with 21 touchdowns.
