Fort Morgan wins first Colorado high school football championship in 22 years

For the first time since 1999, Fort Morgan is a Colorado high school football champ. Saturday, Fort Morgan beat Mead 21-17 at CSU Pueblo for the state’s Class 3A title.

It was a close battle throughout with a 7-7 tie at halftime. The game was also tied at 14-14 at the end of the third.

Late in the game, Mead led 17-14. Quarterback Biggs Wheatley scored the game-winner on a keep with just under four minutes to play.

Fort Morgan finishes 12-1. Mead wraps-up 2021 with a 10-3 record.
