Centennial’s 12-0 win over former No. 5 St. Thomas Aquinas (Florida) on Friday in Arizona shakes-up the High School Football America Top 100 that is created with our proprietary algorithm. The Coyotes enter the national rankings at No. 76 while STA drops 24 spots to No. 29 in the latest rankings.
The STA loss also has a big impact on St. John Bosco (California), which falls ten spots this week to No. 16. Bosco’s only loss was to Aquinas 9-3 in overtime in the season opener for both teams.
Centennial is one of four new teams to enter the Top 100. Joining the Coyotes are Archer (Georgia) at No. 97, Good Counsel (Maryland) at No. 98 and Bryant (Arkansas) at No. 99.
There will be six Top 100 match-ups this week — No. 2 IMG Academy (Florida) vs. No. 79 Venice (Florida), No. 17 Ben Davis (Indiana) vs. No. 91 Lawrence Central (Indiana), No. 25 St. Frances Academy (Maryland) vs. No. 87 McDonogh (Maryland), No. 26 St. John’s College HS (Washington, DC) vs. No. 98 Good Counsel (Maryland), No. 27 St. Peter’s Prep (New Jersey) vs. No. 44 DePaul Catholic (New Jersey) and No. 29 St. Thomas Aquinas (Florida) vs. No. 88 Deerfield Beach (Florida).
