2023 High School Football America national champ Mater Dei is in the market for a new head football coach. The Southern California school announced Friday that it has dismissed Frank McManus after just one-year on the job.

The longtime assistant, who took over for legendary Bruce Rollinson, after his retirement in 2022, led the Monarchs to our ’23 national championship. MD has won four HSFA national crowns since 2018.

Mater Dei was 13-1 last season. The Monarchs only loss was against arch-rival St. John Bosco during their regular season showdown. MD gained revenge by winning the CIF-Southern Section Division 1 title by beating Bosco.

MD clinched the national title by beating Serra (San Mateo) in the California Open Division championship.

According to Steve Fryer of OCVarsity.com, reports that Randy Wright director of football operations and marketing, will serve as the school’s interim head coach. Khaled Holmes will remain as the program’s associate head coach.
