Georgia crowns 3 high school girls flag football champs

Thanks to the Atlanta Falcons and and the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, high school girls’ flag football is the fastest growing sport in Georgia. Thursday, at Georgia State’s Center Parc Stadium, the Georgia High School Association crowned three state champions.

Blessed Trinity won the Class 7A championship with a 19-13 walk-off win in overtime over Milton. Julia Geis’ TD pass to Jaclyn Jones in the second overtime proved to be the game-winner.

After a runner-up finish last year, Lithia Springs won the Class 5A/6A championship game with a 14-0 win over Central-Carroll.

In the Class 1/4A championship game, Southeast Bulloch won the state title for the second straight year with a 13-0 shutout of Harris County. The Yellowjackets have won 39 straight in the school’s two-year history.

The Falcons and the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation have been at the forefront of girls flag football in Georgia across the nation.
