The devastation caused by Hurricane Helene is causing the Georgia High School Association to extend the 2024 high school football season by a week. Teams that had to cancel games from September 26-28 can now play through November 9.
Originally, the GHSA was going to start the playoffs November 8-9 and then have a bye week over the Thanksgiving Weekend. Now, the playoffs witll start November 15-16 with the bye week being eliminated.
The state championship games will still be played December 16-18 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, home of the Atlanta Falcons.
