Georgia extends high school football season due to Hurricane Helene

The devastation caused by Hurricane Helene is causing the Georgia High School Association to extend the 2024 high school football season by a week. Teams that had to cancel games from September 26-28 can now play through November 9.

Originally, the GHSA was going to start the playoffs November 8-9 and then have a bye week over the Thanksgiving Weekend. Now, the playoffs witll start November 15-16 with the bye week being eliminated.

The state championship games will still be played December 16-18 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, home of the Atlanta Falcons.
