It was another big week of head-to-head playoff matchups in the High School Football America Georgia Top 25.

The state quarterfinal round had plenty of surprises with North Gwinnett leading the way with its easy 32-13 win over previously unbeaten No. 2 McEachern in Class 7A. McEachern also entered the game ranked No. 7 in the High School Football America 100 national rankings.

NG will climb from last week’s No. 51 national ranking when we release our national rankings Sunday. Next up is top-ranked Lowndes, which is currently ranked No. 6 in the nation. Lowndes beat No. 4 Grayson 28-20 on Friday.

The thriller of the night was in 5A where No. 10 Buford beat Carrollton on a last second field goal.

In 4A, No. 9 Cartersville was beaten by No. 22 Woodward Academy 31-28. Cartersville entered the game ranked No. 78 in the High School Football America 100.
