The Georgia high school football championships are set for December 7-8 at Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta…or are they?

If the Atlanta United, the city professional soccer team beats the New York Red Bulls in the Major League Soccer semifinals, the MLS championship match will move the state’s high school football championships to December 11 and 12.

A year ago, six state finals were postponed for a week because of a winter storm that arrived suddenly and made travel hazardous. Those games were moved to high school stadiums because Mercedes-Benz Stadium was unavailable.
