Georgia News: Johns Creek’s Matt Helmerich hired by Peachtree Ridge

After five years as the head coach at Johns Creek, Matt Helmerich is moving-on to Peachtree Ridge. Helmerich won two regional championships while going 35-20 with the Gladiators. Last season, Johns Creek finished 9-4, advancing to the AAAAAA quarterfinals.

Prior to coming to Johns Creek, Helmerich was a coach in Florida. He was the head coach at Fort Pierce Central and the defensive coordinator at St. Thomas Aquinas, where he was part of four state championships.

Helmerich takes-over for Reggie Stancil, who resigned in January after five seasons as the program’s head coach.
