While there are several dozen games this weekend to make-up contests postponed due to Hurricane Helene, we’re going to call this the final regular season High School Football America Georgia Top 25 high school football rankings, powered by NFL Play Football.
Grayson is the only Top 25 playing this weekend. the No. 9 Rams will play Newton. The 6A Region 4 title will be on the line when these two teams nicknamed the Rams butt heads. Both teams are a perfect 5-0 in region play.
No. 1 Milton captured a 5A Region 7 title Friday when it beat No. 13 Roswell 35-20. The Eagles, who won the 7A state championship, will open the ultra-competitive 5A playoffs next week against Woodstock.
Lee County is up a notch to No. 6 after winning the 5A Region 2 title. The Trojans finished a perfect 10-0 regular season with a 63-48 win over No. 24 Houston County.
LC opens the 5A playoffs against Habersham Central. It’s possible that Lee County could face Milton in the state quarterfinals.
The 5A playoffs will also include 2023 6A champ Thomas County Central, ranked No. 10 this week after beating ’23 5A champ Coffee 38-7. The loss drops Coffee from No. 9 to No. 12 in the latest rankings created with our proprietary algorithm.
No. 2 Carrollton captured the 6A Region 2 championship with a 49-28 win over No. 11 Douglas County.
