South Georgia’s Camden County is turning to neighboring Florida for its new head football coach. The Wildcats have announced that they’ve hired Mainland High’s Travis Roland to replace legendary Jeff Herron, who retired last month.

Roland led Mainland to Florida 3S high school football state title in December. The Buccaneers finished the year No. 75 in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football.

In three seasons at Mainland, Roland was 30-10.

Herron retired having led Camden County to three state championships. Overall, during a 32-year career in Georgia and South Carolina, Herron won 324 games.
