Taft High School’s football stadium is named in honor of the school’s first head football coach, Hal Lambert. After launching the Woodland Hills football program in 1960, Lambert remained at the helm of the Toreadors for 20 years.
Coach Lambert, who died in 2009, owned a lifetime record of 94-80-6. His 1965 team had an undefeated regular season, losing to Los Angeles High in the playoffs.
His most famous player was future NFL player and head coach Jeff Fisher.
