Congratulations to Mike Smith, who won his 500th high school football coach Saturday. The head coach of the Hampton Crabbers since 1971 became the third high school football coach in America to reach the 500 milestone with a 25-14 win over Menchville.

In his 51st season, Smith has led Hampton to 12 Virginia high school football championships.

Smith is third on the all-time high school football coaching wins list behind John McKissick (621 wins) and JT Curtis (598 wins).

Earlier this year, Alan Chadwick (Marist HS, Georgia) and Dudley Hilton (Bell County HS, Kentucky) won their 400th games.

As of today, there are 37 high school football coaches that have won 400 career wins or more.
