Herb Meyer Oceanside Legend Day held to celebrate SoCal high school football coach

On Saturday, the City of Oceanside celebrated the life of legendary high school football coach Herb Meyer, who passed away in April at the age of 87. The “Celebration of Life” was held in El Camino’s high school football stadium named after him.

Meyer, who is San Diego County’s all-time winningest football coach, served as the head coach at Oceanside for 17 years and then 28 years at El Camino. In those 45 years, he won 338 camps with 10 section championships.
