The drive for the 2024 High School Football America national championship heats up this weekend with the top six teams in the HSFA 300, powered by NFL Play Football, facing ranked opponents.

Reigning national champ Mater Dei (California) plays its long-time arch rival Servite (California), up 14 spots to No. 32 in the latest rankings created with our proprietary algorithm. The Friars make their move after beating former No. 36 JSerra 20-7 on Friday.

While the Mater Dei/St. John Bosco rivalry has dominated the Southern California high school football scene for more than a decade, the Mater Dei/Servite also gets the blood boiling for the two schools. The series dates back to 1961 with the Monarch having a decided advantage in the series. The last Servite win came in 2011.

No. 2 St. John Bosco (California) will be at home this week against No. 50 Santa Margarita (California), coming off a 40-18 loss to No. 1 Mater Dei.

Bosco, behind a freshman quarterback, stormed back to beat No. 12 Orange Lutheran (California) 28-24 Friday night. OLu led 10-0 at the half, but with Matai Fuiava sidelined with an injury, Koa Malau’ulu tossed four second half touchdown passes.

No. 3 Bishop Gorman has a Thursday night matchup against No. 125 Arbor View. The Aggies are a perfect 5-0, but have a tall mountain to climb against a Gorman that has won 13-of-the-last-14 state titles in Nevada’s largest classification. Arbor View, which opened in 2005, has never beaten the Gaels.

In Georgia, No. 4 Milton will be on the road to face No. 88 Gainesville in a big 5A Region 7 matchup. Both teams are a perfect 3-0 in region play.

With Hurricane Milton heading toward Florida, it’s hard to say what will happen with the scheduled Friday game between No. 5 St. Thomas Aquinas and No. 26 Chaminade-Madonna. STA has won a state-record five straight Florida state titles. C-M has won three straight.

In Texas, No. 6 Duncanville will battle No. 21 DeSoto for first-place in District 11-6A. Both teams have won back-to-back state titles. Duncanville is the reigning champ in 6A Division I. DeSoto is the reigning champ in 6A Division II.

Speaking of Texas, Atascocita moves up sixteen spots to No. 18 after a huge 42-39 win over former No. 52 Summer Creek. The Eagles are 5-0 with all of their wins coming against teams that were ranked in the HSFA 300. In three weeks, Atascocita will play No. 10 North Shore for the top spot in District 23-6A.

Alabama’s Auburn High School jumps 166 spots to No. 44 after beating former No. 28 Central (Phenix City) 38-33. Central drops 20 positions to No. 48.

Pennsylvania’s La Salle College High School moves up 82 positions to No. 47 after beating former two-time reigning 6A champ St. Joseph’s Prep 36-35 in quadruple overtime. The Hawks fall from No. 27 to No. 49.

Arizona’s Red Mountain makes its first-ever appearance in our Top 300. The Mountain Lions sit at No. 100 after beating former No. 62 Highland 28-11

Red Mountain is one of eleven teams entering the HSFA 300 this week.
