While Florida, Georgia and Texas have a week left in the regular season, the drive for another California state title begins in two weeks for reigning national champ Mater Dei. The Monarchs closed-out the regular season Friday with its second straight Trinity League championship.

No. 1 Mater Dei beat Orange Lutheran 38-14 to finish the regular season a perfect 9-0. The Monarchs open the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs in two weeks against the winner of the play-in game between No. 49 Servite and No. 54 Sierra Canyon.

If MD wins its quarterfinal matchup, the Monarchs will face the winner of the game between No. 17 Mission Viejo and No. 22 Corona Centennial.

On the other side of the ultra-competitive playoff bracket is No. 5 St. John Bosco. The Braves will face the winner of the play-in game between No. 62 Santa Margarita and No. 156 Inglewood.

In the fourth quarterfinal matchup, No. 13 Orange Lutheran squares-off with No. 50 JSerra.

St. Frances Academy (Maryland) is up two spots to No. 10 in the latest High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football.
