For the first time ever, and after a lots of requests, we will begin ranking America’s prep schools this year. We will be using our proprietary algorithm that we’ve been using since 2013 for our national high school rankings, powered by NFL Play Football.

A majority of the prep schools are in the northeast. Most of them play in the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council that was founded in 1942. The NEPSAC features 54 schools.

Starting No. 1 in our first-ever poll is The Hun School from Princeton, New Jersey. The Raiders are unique, in that it plays hybrid schedule that includes regular high schools and prep schools.

The Hun School caught national attention over Labor Day weekend when it beat Chicago-power Mount Carmel (Illinois) 42-38. At game time, the Caravan was ranked No. 39 in the HSFA 300 national rankings.

The Raiders improved to 2-0 last weekend with a 56-18 win over Wyoming Seminary (Pennsylvania).

This week, Hun will play No. 2 Avon Old Farms (Connecticut), a member of the NEPSAC.

Later this season, the Raiders will play Rabun Gap-Nacoochee (Georgia), ranked No. 70 in the HSFA 300, and St. Frances Academy (Maryland), currently ranked No. 11 in America.

New Jersey’s Lawrenceville School is the only other school in the Top 10 with a game under its belt. The Big Red opened with a 10-7 win over the Episcopal Academy from Pennsylvania.

In two weeks, Lawrenceville will face No. 3 Coate Rosemary Hall (Connecticut), which will be the opener for CRH.

No. 4 Brunswick (Connecticut) opens the 2024 season this weekend against Cheshire Academy (Connecticut) in a NEPSAC Northeast Prep Football Conference matchup.

In a Top 10 head-to-head, No. 5 Phillips Exeter Academy (New Hampshire) opens against No. 6 Suffield Academy (Connecticut).
