The No. 1 vs. No. 2 showdown between Bishop Hendricken and La Salle Academy will have to wait. Saturday’s matchup was cancelled due to COVID-19 protocols for the state’s top-ranked team. It’s possible the arch-rivals could meet in the postseason that starts at the end of the month.
On the field, No. 3 Portsmouth was upset by East Greenwhich 10-3, which opens the door of Central High to make its first-ever Rhode Island Top 5 appearance at No. 5.
