The one thing certain about the High School Football America Top 100 this year is that nothing is certain.  For the third straight week, a Top 10 team tasted defeat, which shuffles the deck in the latest rankings.

Former No. 5 DeSoto (Texas) tumbles to No. 47 after dropping a 24-14 decision to Duncanville (Texas), which climbs from No. 77 to No. 44 after beating the defending Class 6A Division II state champs.

In Ohio, St. Ignatius continued its bounce-back from its upset loss to Archbishop Moeller three week ago.  The Wildcats climb to No. 10 this week after knocking-off arch-rival and previously unbeaten St. Edward 17-10.  The Wildcats were No. 9 before the Moller loss, but after wins over St. Xavier and St. Ed on back-to-back weekends, their back in the Top 10.  St. Ed drops from No. 18 to No. 25 in the new rankings created with our proprietary algorithm.

There are four head-to-head Top 100 match-ups this week.

No. 2 IMG Academy (Florida) faces defending Alabama 7A state champ Hoover, which dropped from No. 30 to No. 70 after losing to Thompson (Alabama) on Friday.  Thompson with a perfect 9-0 mark enters the rankings at No. 84.

In Indiana, No. 8 Ben Davis will square-off with No. 96 Warren Central in the second round of the 6A playoffs.  During the regular season, the Giants beat WC 45-16.

No. 23 St. John’s College High School (Washington, D.C.) will try to wrap-up the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference regular season championship when it faces Gonzaga (Washington, D.C.).  The Eagles enter the game ranked No. 98 after losing its first conference game to Good Counsel on Friday.

And, in New Jersey, No. 38 St. Joseph Regional (Montvale) will battle No. 43 DePaul Catholic.

Joining Thompson as a new team in the Top 100 this week are North Little Rock (Arkansas) at No. 95 after beating former No. 92 Bryant (Arkansas) on Friday, Mallard Creek (North Carolina) at No. 97 and Utica Eisenhower (Michigan) is new at No. 100.
