Our third in-season High School Football America Top 25 sees the 2014 Strength of Schedule (SOS), part of our rankings algorithm, start to take hold. Yes, there is shuffling as a result of five ranked teams losing this past weekend, but with teams having three to four games under their belts, the SOS is beginning to rule the changes within the Top 25.
There was no doubt that Saturday’s impressive performance by Don Bosco Prep (New Jersey) was going to impact the top part of the rankings. The Ironmen move from #23 to #2 with the dominating 24-7 win over former #2 St. Thomas Aquinas (Florida). The Raiders drop from #2 to #13.
Aside from DBP’s move, the top seven remain unchanged, but that could change over the next couple of weeks. Thursday #5 DeSoto (Texas) will play Top 25 newbie Cibolo Steele (Texas) and then next week, #6 St. John Bosco (California), idle this week, in two weeks will face #7 Bishop Gorman (Nevada), which has a tough test this week against unbeaten Santa Margarita from Southern California.
New to this week’s rankings: #22 Cibolo Steele (Texas), #23 Long Beach Poly (California), #24 Ben Davis (Indiana) and #25 Euless Trinity (Texas).
Falling from the rankings: #8 Cedar Hill (Texas), #12 Katy (Texas), #15 Jenks (Oklahoma) and #25 Acadiana (Louisiana)
