The New York governor’s office will allow high school football and other higher-risk sports in the Spring. The state issued updated COVID-19 guidelines on Friday that will allow high school sports starting as soon as February 1, if local counties sign-off on the return to play.

The state will require county health departments to consider three things – the local COVID-19 rates, the local ability to monitor compliance with rules and whether the British strain of the coronavirus is present within the area.
