After being routed 46-0 during their regular season, Homer gained revenge against Houston Saturday in Alaska’s Division III state championship. The Mariners beat Houston 22-20 at Service High School to capture the school’s first-ever high school football state championship.

Quarterback Carter Tennison, who didn’t play in the regular season game, scored two touchdowns and scored a couple of two-point conversions in the victory.
