After three straight road games, the Cherokee Warriors returned home Friday night to face county-rival Creekview at Tommy Baker Field. When the final horn sounded, Creekview headed home with a hard-fought 21-14 victory.

Creekview never trailed in the game, but Cherokee kept battling back. After the Grizzlies took a 7-0 lead, AJ Swann connected with Zi Johnson to tie the game at 7-7.

Creekview (3-0) regained the lead on the opening drive of the second half. The Grizzlies controlled the ball for 8 minutes and 12 seconds. The drive ended on a 19-yard touchdown pass from Mason Hicks to Tyler Stevens.

Cherokee tied the game at 14-14 after a Creekview turnover deep in its own territory.

A bad snap over the head punter Lucas Hubert’s head led to Cherokee (2-2) taking-over at the Grizzlies’ 1-yard line. Aidan Moore scored on the next snap.

The winning drive came in the middle of the fourth quarter when Isaac Hubert ripped-off a 72-yard touchdown run.

Cherokee will close-out non-league play next week against Cartersville.
