Klein Forest head coach Johnathan Wilson is the Houston Texans Week 9 High School Coach of the Week.

Below, you can read quotes from Coach Clancy on why he coaches that appears on HoustonTexans.com:

Why I coach: “I coach because I want to impact the youth in a positive way. Football is a great game but I believe more importantly it teaches life lessons such a discipline, structure, and work ethic. I decided to coach at the high school level because I wanted to help build young men into responsible adults through the game of football. Klein Forest is where I graduated high school from so I wanted to come back and give back to my community. Klein Forest holds a very special place in my heart and it will always be home!”

Most rewarding/fulfilling part of the job: “The most rewarding part of my job is help kids reach their goals on and off the field. I enjoy having former players return that tell me they have a new job, degree, a family, or married and they say “Thank you Coach for everything”. That means the world to me!”

Most misunderstood thing about the coaching profession: “The most misunderstood thing about coaching high school football is the idea that all you do is coach football. Coaching football is probably least of what I do. Our coaching staff is constantly checking students grades, building students character, and strengthening our relationships with our student athletes. Although wins are important our ultimate goal is to give kids a chance at life.”

Important school initiatives: “Our football program has been a part of several community events over the last few years. We encourage all athletes to give back to their community. Some of the events that we have been a part of are a carwash at Fallbrook Church, reading to students at Greenwood Elementary School and volunteering at The Houston Foodbank.”
