After six solid days of practice and work, Sunday called for a day off. It felt odd waking up knowing there was no football for the day. Fortunately for me (not for those who don’t understand this profession) it is the last Sunday off until at least December.
I woke up and got a workout in. I let the iPod roll and crank out a sixty five minute workout. Gets the blood flowing! I prefer to workout at night but an early morning workout really juices you up. It’s nice to wake up and just run yourself into the ground. You demand the best from your kids everyday. Well, you need to demand the best of you (Foo Fighter’s) every day, physically and mentally. Do not ask your team to do it if you are not capable of doing it yourself.
After the workout we got some lunch. Our favorite person on the planet is here, Danielle Gassler. She is visiting from Pennsylvania. Danielle lived with us in Tampa when I was a head coach there. She went back to PA and this was her first trip to Texas. She is a former Lingerie League Football player (yes, they play real football and she was good!). Anyway, we all got lunch together and had a great time.
We capped the day with a trip to Odessa. Danielle wanted to see the home of Friday Night Lights. Great trip with the family and Danielle. We got some dinner and drove back to Lubbock. So football was still a big part of my day, just no practice.
Can’t wait to hit the field today for day seven! It’s game week! We scrimmage on Friday against Coronado. Looking for a fun, exciting week of football!
RANDOMNESS
– Yankees lost at home again; losing record at the stadium this year. Not good for business.
– Brandt Martin, Special Teams, has a pet rock named Jim.
– RB coach Adam Rosales favorite place to eat is Montelongo’s.
– I need a cheesesteak from Philly. It’s killing me!
