For the second year in a row, a hurricane has cancelled a high school football game between national power IMG Academy (Florida) and an Alabama high school football heavyweight.
Hurricane Helene has caused Central (Phenix City) to cancelled its game against the Ascenders that was scheduled for Friday. Last August, Hurricane Idalia forced the cancellation of the game between IMG and then defending 7A champ Thompson.
IMG is currently ranked No. 7 in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football. Central, Alabama’s reigning 7A champs, is ranked No. 27 in the nation.
