Hurricane Ian takes aim at Week 6 Florida high school football schedule

Safety first when it comes to hurricane season.

The entire state of Florida is under a state of emergency as citizens prepare for Hurricane Ian that is expected to landfall in the Tampa area on Thursday morning.

Week 6 of the high school football season will be dramatically impact, as evidenced by many changes that are being tracked by our friends at FloridaHSFootball.com.

Several big matchups inside the Florida Top 25 and High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football, are already being affected.

Nationally-ranked Lakeland, No. 46 in the current HSFA 300, decided to move its Friday game against Lake Gibson, to Monday night. The four-day switch didn’t affect the Dreadnaughts as they rolled to a 47-14 victory.

The game between No. 14 IMG Academy and No. 53 Jones (Orlando) has been cancelled.
