The Idaho High School Activities Association may use a mercy rule for all 11-man football classifications this fall.  The IHSAA, which has been using a mercy rule for 8-man games, approved the new rule last week, but it must still pass another board vote in August in order for the rule to officially take effect in 2016.

The new rule states that once a team is ahead by 40 points in the second half, game officials will use a running clock that will only stop for timeouts, official timeouts and scoring plays.
