Illinois changes the way it seeds its high school football tournament

The Illinois High School Association is changing the way its seeds its high school football tournament in Classes 6A, 5A, 4A, 3A and 1A.

The IHSA recently announced that is will be using a 1-32 seeding format in those six classifications. The state’s top two classifications — 8A and 7A — are currently using a 1-32 format.

Recently, the lower six classifications have been using a 1-16 seeding format split on a North-South geographic basis.
