Illinois high school football championships moving to Illinois State University

The next five Illinois high school football championships will be played at Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois.

The Illinois High School Association has announced that, starting in 2023, the state’s eight state title games will be played in Hancock Stadium through the 2027 championships. Over the last decade, the IHSA title games have been rotating between the University of Illinois and Norther Illinois University.

The first championship games were played in Bloomington-Normal in 1974. The championships remained in Bloomington-Normal through 1998.
