Are high school football conferences/leagues a thing of the past in Illinois? According to a Chicago Sun Times story, the Illinois High School Association could be looking at splitting the state into districts that would do away with conferences.

According to the article, the IHSA could submit a proposal later this year that would outline a plan that could divide the state into eight or nine team districts. The story goes on to say that the idea is be discussed because recent conference reshuffling is causing some teams difficulties in finding non-league opponents.
