Alleman High School in Rock Island, Illinois will only play junior varsity football in 2023.

According to QCVarsity.com, Alleman won’t play varsity football because of low numbers in the program. The media outlet reports, “ten seniors, most of them two-way players, graduated from a 30-person roster this past fall.”

The Pioneers were 1-8 last year, which include one forfeit loss because of a lack of offensive linemen.

Alleman is part of the Western Big 6 Conference. The school hopes to return to playing at the varsity level in 2004.
