Two-time defending 8A champ Loyola Academy will be going for a three-peat this week as the No. 2 team in the High School Football America Illinois Top 10 high school football rankings, powered by NFL Play Football. The Ramblers move from No. 4 to No. 2 in the latest rankings after beating former No. 2 Lincoln-Way East 27-24 in the state semifinals.

In Saturday’s championship game, LA will play York.

As far as the rest of the rankings, there will be two other head-to-head Top 10 matchups for championships at Illinois State.

In 6A, top-ranked East St. Louis will square-off with No. 10 Geneva, who breaks into the statewide rankings for the first time this year after upsetting No. 3 Cary-Grove 28-26 in the state semis.

No. 6 Nazareth Academy will battle No. 6 Joliet Catholic for the 5A championship on Saturday

In the 7A title game, No. 4 Mount Carmel (Chicago) will also be going for a three-peat when it plays Batavia.
