The National Football League‘s Indianapolis Colts will celebrate the start of the 2023 high school football season in Indiana by hosting a doubleheader at Lucas Oil Stadium.

The August 18 Horseshoe Classic, fueled by Gatorade, will kick-off with Cathedral, ranked No. 70 in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football, taking-on Lafayette Jefferson. Last year, Cathedral advanced to the 6A state semifinals, while Lafayette Jeff lost in the 6A state quarterfinals.

In the second game Noblesville will take-on Mount Vernon (Fortville). Noblesville is coming-off a 4-7 season in which the Millers advanced to the second round of the 6A playoffs. Mount Vernon was 6-4, losing in the opening round of the 4A playoffs.

The Horseshoe Classic is a part of the team’s ongoing partnership with the Indiana High School Athletic Association and its support of football at all levels. The Horseshoe Classic is one of several events the Colts are planning leading up to the team’s regular season opener on Sept. 10.
