Over the past several years, I’ve been impressed at the ways high school football coaches come together via Twitter.

Last week, Chris Fisher (no relation), varsity offensive line coach at Ridge Point High School in Missouri City, Texas came-up with a great way to bring Texas high school football coaches together 140 characters at a time.  He started an online chat with the hashtag #txhsfbchat.  The social media coaches’ huddle will continue every Wednesday at 8 P.M. Central Time.

“I started this because it gives coaches the opportunity to build up their professional network and learn from an untapped resource of coaches on Twitter across the state of Texas, and even across the nation,” said Fisher.

He added that the first week response to the #txhsfbchat was very good and resulted in him gaining a large number of followers @coachfisher_rp.  Fisher said, not only did he hear from Texas coaches, but others around the country checked-in with him.

In order to promote the Wednesday chats, Fisher has started a blog (txhsfbchat.blogspot.com) that even shows you snippets of last week’s Twitter chat via Storify that you can see below.
