The Kansas High School Activities Activities Association is changing its playoff classification for the 2018 high school football season.

On Wednesday the KHSAA announced it will eliminate two divisions in Class 4A and separate Class 2-1A into two classifications.  Under the new format for the 2018-19 school year, class 6A will consist of the top 32 teams by enrollment, followed by the next 32 teams in 5A and 32 teams in 4A.

Class 3A and 2A will be 48-team classifications with the remaining teams, approximately 35 being in 1A.

The change eliminates teams having to play three games in ten days, which has been the case in several classifications over the years.

The change was approved by a 215-73 vote.  Click here to see voting results by classification.
