Under normal circumstances, the crowd at Friday night’s rivalry game between Louisville-powers Trinity and St. Xavier at Cardinal Stadium would be around 30,000. However, during these COVID-19 times, the game is being moved to the campus of St. X where the crowd will be limited to about 1,800 fans, 30-percent of the capacity at Brother Thomas More Page Stadium.

This will be only the second on-campus game in the rivalry between the two. The last time it happened was in 1961 when the game was played at Trinity High and the heated rivals battled to a 14-all tie.

The Trinity/St. X rivalry began in 1956 and since then the two Louisville schools have met 86 times, many times twice in the season, since the statewide playoffs began. Trinity leads the all-time series 46-38-2 after last season’s 35-3 victory.

Trinity enters the game ranked No. 1 in the High School Football America Kentucky Top 10. St. X, which has only played one game since the season began three weeks ago, is ranked No. 6.
