On the eve of the 2015 Southern California high school football season, the LA Daily News has released its Top 10 SoCal high school football rivalries.
Topping the list is the East L.A. Classic between Garfield and Roosevelt that began in 1925. This year, the two will square-off for the 81st time. Last year, Garfield won 42-7 before 15,000 fans at East Los Angeles College.
Roosevelt, which has lost five straight in the series, leads the all-time series 40-34-6. This year, the rivals will meet on October 30th.
The oldest SoCal High Desert rivalry belongs to Barstow and Victor Valley. They’ll play for the 92nd time this season on October 9th in the “Axe Game”. After last year’s win, Barstow leads the all-time series 48-39-4.
