Lansdale Catholic High School head coach Jim Kirk has accepted the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, the social media phenomenon with friends challenging friends to dump a bucket of ice over their heads or donate at least $100 to ALS a.k.a. Lou Gehrig’s disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord.
Kirk’s brother Roger is battling the horrible disease.

Kirk took over the program three years ago from the legendary Jim Algeo, who posted a 293-183-15 record in 44 seasons and won a PIAA Class AA state championship in 2004.
Algeo’s daughter Bridget Algeo-Letukas appeared on our radio show last year to talk about a documentary the family is producing called Football Family about her father.
