Sunrise Mountain has had an outstanding turnaround in 2023. After a 4-6 record last year, the Miners head into the 4A playoffs with a 7-1 record. As a result, the Las Vegas Raiders have announced head coach Chris Sawyers as their 2023 Tom Flores High School Coach of the Year.
On Monday at Allegiant Stadium, Sawyers was surprised with the news of the honor inside the Raiders locker room. Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels delivered the news to Coach Sawyers.
The Raiders gave $2,000 to the Sunrise Mountain program as part of the award, plus Sawyers got a custom football.
