Leroy captures Alabama 1A high school football championship

Despite a two touchdown deficit in the second quarter Thursday at Bryant-Denny Stadium, Leroy now reigns as two-time Alabama 1A high school football champ. When the final horn sounded, Leroy beat Coosa Christian 28-21.

The victory was sweet for the Bears, who been without head coach Jason Massey, who was deployed with his National Guard unit after a 4-0 start to the season. Chan Lowe finished 10-0 as his replacement.
