Two more National Football League teams are throwing their support into high school girls’ flag football.

The Los Angeles Chargers and Los Angeles Rams have announced they are teaming-up to help form the Los Angeles Girls Flag Football League of Champions for eight local high schools. With the help of Nike, which will provide custom uniforms, the Rams and Chargers will give nearly 100 female student-athletes the opportunity to learn and excel in the sport of football.

The pilot program will include eight schools from in-and-around Los Angeles and culminate with a championship that will be held at the Super Bowl Experience at downtown LA on Super Bowl 56 weekend.

The Atlanta Falcons were the first NFL team to support girls’ flag football with a donation from the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation. That initial donation led to the Georgia High School Association making girls’ flag an official sport in 2020.
