As we get deeper-and-deeper into the postseason, expect to see lots of shuffling in the High School Football America California Top 25, powered by NFL Play Football. The latest statewide rankings is an excellent example of what we can see in the weeks ahead.

The top six teams hold steady this week, but after that, to quote Jerry Lee Lewis, there’s a whole lot of shaking going on.

The biggest mover is El Cajon’s Granite Hills. The Eagles move from No. 21 to No. 13 after a 46-45 overtime win over Helix in the San Diego Section Open Division semifinals. The close loss actually moves Helix up from No. 22 to No. 21 in the latest rankings created with our proprietary algorithm.

Servite makes a big jump from No. 14 to No. 9 after beating former No. 7 Long Beach Poly in the CIF-Southern Section Division 2 second round. Up next for the Friars will be No. 18 Gardena Serra.

Others that moved up this week:

  • De La Salle – up 3 to No. 7
  • Folsom – up 3 to No. 8
  • Clovis North – up 1 to No. 23

The week ahead is a big one with four head-to-head Top 25 matchups.

  • No. 1 St. John Bosco vs. No. 4 Corona Centennial
  • No. 2 Mater Dei vs. No. 3 Sierra
  • No. 5 Lincoln (San Diego) vs. No. 13 Granite Hills (El Cajon)
  • No. 9 Servite vs. No. 18 Serra (Gardena)
