The Louisiana High School Athletic Association will open its Fall high school football camps on August 3. The news came as a bit of a surprise since the State of Louisiana won’t move out of Phase 2 of its reopening from the coronavirus pandemic until at least August 7.

LHSAA Executive Director Eddie Bonine released a memo to member schools Monday evening detailing the guidelines of the practices. Teams will be able to use helmets and have 7-on-7 competition, but no contact will be allowed.

Earlier this month, the LHSAA said it wouldn’t hold games until the state reaches Phase 4, which currently doesn’t exist. Then, last week, the state’s governing body committed itself to playing football in the Fall.
