Mandarin upsets No. 48 Columbus for Florida 8A title

Mandarin captured its first-ever Florida high school football championship with a 37-35 victory over No. 48 Columbus in the Florida 8A championship game. Jerome Jolly stopped Henry Parrish on a two-point conversion with 1:17 remaining to seal the victory for Mandarin.

Mandarin junior quarterback Carson Beck, who has given his verbal commitment to Alabama, threw for 329 yards and five touchdowns. Columbus junior QB Brandon McDuffey, who’s given his verbal to Florida Atlantic, threw for 293 yards with five touchdowns, but also tossed three interceptions.
