The Marist is coming off a 12-2 season. The War Eagles advanced to the 6A state quarterfinals last year where they lost 13-7 to eventual state champ Thomas County Central.
The outstanding season landed Marist at No. 147 in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football, and No. 17 in our statewide rankings.
This season, under the state’s two-year realignment, Marist will play in Class 4A Region 5 with Clarkston, Cross Keys, Druid Hills, Lithonia, North Springs, Northview, Southwest DeKalb, St. Pius X and Tucker.
The large region means the War Eagles have only two non-region games. They open against Jefferson and then play 6A runner-up Woodward Academy.
