When it comes to the oldest Thanksgiving Day high school football rivalries, Massachusetts leads the way.

Boston Latin and Boston English/New Mission have been battling since 1887. On Thursday, at historic Harvard Stadium, English/New Mission beat Latin 52-44 for its second straight win in the series. It was the first time since the 60’s that English/New Mission have won in back-to-back seasons.

After 135 games, Latin owns a 82-40-13 lead in the all-time series.

In the western Boston suburbs, Wellesley beat Needham in the 135th meeting in the game that is known as America’s original Thanksgiving Day high school football game.

The 135th meeting between Medford and Malden was moved to Tuesday, so it could be played at Fenway Park, home of Major League Baseball’s Boston Red Sox. Malden raced out to a 22-0 lead that led to a 34-15 victory.

The Malden/Meford game was one of five played in the historic baseball stadium on Tuesday and Wednesday.
