The Massachusetts High School Football Coaches Association‘s Hall of Fame will grow by seven this year. Earlier this week, the MHSFCA announced its Hall of Fame Class of 2024.
Gary Doherty, Reggie Lanciani, Chris Lindstrom, Sean Mulcahy , Sean Mahoney, Phil Marchegiani and Paul Sullivan will be induced in May.
Below are description’s of this year’s honorees in alphabetical order:
Gary Doherty
Doherty is currently the athletic director a Bishop Feehan. He began his football coach at Feehan before moving on to Framingham, where he spent 19 years as the school’s head football coach. He also spent time at Taunton.
Reggie Lanciani
Lanciani and Bill Maradei were co-coaches at Dom Savio when the school won the 1982 Division 4 Super Bowl. That team only allowed one touchdown all season during a perfect 11-0 run. He also coached at Dennis-Yarmouth.
Chris Lindstrom
Lindstrom, a former NFL player, led Shepherd Hills to a Division 2 Super Bowl in 2007. He retired with a record of 112-71 in 2017. He was taken in the eighth round of the 1982 NFL Draft by the St. Louis Cardinals. He played for the Cincinnati Bengals, Kansas City Chiefs, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and in the USFL with the Chicago Blitz.
Currently, Lindstrom’s namesake, is an All-Pro offensive lineman with the Atlanta Falcons. His other son Alec is currently a center with the Memphis Showboats in the UFL.
Sean Mulcahy
Mulcahy has been at Doherty High School for 34 seasons. He became the head coach at his alma mater in 1990. He led Doherty to a Division 4 state championship in 2013.
Sean Mahoney
Mahoney is the head coach at Marlborough after stops at Shrewsbury and Assumption. In addition to coaching football, he also coaches girls’ basketball and tennis for the Panthers.
Heading into 2024 Mahoney owns a lifetime football coaching record of 150-111. The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association named Mahoney as its Football Coach of the Year for the 2020-21 sports year.
Phil Marchegiani
Marchegiani was Marian’s head coach for 22 years before moving on to Ayer-Shirley. His lifetime coaching record is 145-87-3 with three Eastern Massachusetts championships between 1992 and 2002.
Paul Sullivan
Sullivan led North Attleboro to a 66-8-2 record during his time as the school’s head coach. The Rocketeers amassed a 38-game win streak during Sullivan’s first three seasons. He led them to four Super Bowl titles before retiring to focus on being the school’s athletic director.

The induction ceremony will also include the MHSFC honoring assistant coaches Chuck Campoasso (North Reading), Paul Capsick (St. John’s), Eli Gioumbakis (Westford Academy), Steve Jordan (Nobles & Greenough), Donald Joseph (Fairhaven), Lou Ottaviani (Randolph) and Paul Saba (Whitman-Hanson).
Foxborough’s Jack Martinelli will be honored for his 300th career win.
The MHSFCA also will also salute four players with its Courageous Player Award. The honorees will be Eddie Hall (Lowell Catholic), Jacob Paskell (Leominster), Nick Tutkus (Braintree) and Kyle Wilder (Chelmsford).
Laurie Los Lee of the Standard Times/South Coast Today will receive the organization’s Media Award.
