Despite a season-opening loss, Catholic Memorial jumps two spots to No. 3 in the first in-season High School Football America Massachusetts Top 10 high school football rankings, powered by NFL Play Football. The Knights dropped a 33-28 decision to New York’s Cardinal Hayes, ranked No. 93 in the HSFA 300 national rankings.

No. 2 St. John’s Prep picked-up a quality win to start the season. The Eagles beat No. 6 Marshfield 42-20.

Springfield Central also lost to a NY opponent. The Golden Eagles drop from No. 3 to No. 4 after their loss to Iona Prep, No. 106 in our national rankings. This week, Central plays No. 7 Central Catholic.

In another Top 10 head-to-head this week, No. 9 Needham will be on the road to play No. 10 Natick.
