Needham soars to No. 2 in the latest High School Football America Massachusetts Top 10 high school football rankings, powered by NFL Play Football. The Rockets make a six spot jump after beating former No. 2 St. John’s Prep in the Division 1 state semifinals.

The win moves Needham into the Division 1 Super Bowl against No. 4 Xaverian Brothers on December 5 at Gillette Stadium, home of the New England Patriots. Before the Rockets get to the state title game, they’ll play their annual Thanksgiving rivalry game against Wellesley. Thursday’s Needham/Wellesley game will mark the 137th between the two schools that began playing in 1882.

Xaverian Brothers advanced to the Division 1 Super Bowl by beating former No. 4 BC High 31-14. On Thursday, XB will play St. John’s Prep, who drops from No. 2 to No. 3 this week after losing to BC in the state semis.

In the Division 2 Super Bowl, top-ranked Catholic Memorial will play defending state champ King Philip Regional. In the state semis, KPR beat No. 8 Marshfield 34-15.
